Según la leyenda, es el ave más antigua de la Tierra, de ahí su longevidad e inteligencia. Protege a sus crías con todas sus fuerzas, convirtiéndola en un símbolo de protección de las familias.
Los samuráis lo eligieron para adornar sus armas y escudos, simbolizando el honor, la lealtad y la fuerza. Los japoneses creen que si una persona fabrica mil grullas de papel, se le concederá su mayor deseo.

According to legend, it´s the oldest bird on Earth, hence it´s longevity and intelligence. Protects her hatchlings with all her might, making it a symbol of protecting families.
The samurais chose it to ornament their weapons and shields, symbolizing honor, loyalty, and strength. The japanese believe that if a person makes a thousand paper cranes, their greatest wish will be granted.
